Bratwurst and beer are a classic flavor combination; I’ve turned this popular dish into an easy snack that’s great for parties, football games, or as a hearty snack.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 package Bratwurst (get them from your local butcher)
- 1 12 ounce bottle beer
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
INSTRUCTIONS
- Cook the bratwurst on the grill until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring it’s fully cooked..
While the brats are grilling, prepare the sauce. Combine the beer and brown sugar in a pot over medium-high heat, bringing it to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the mixture reduces and thickens. Then, whisk in the mustard until it becomes smooth.
Combine the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water, whisking it together, then pour this mixture into the beer blend. Bring the beer to a boil and continue cooking for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
Cut the sausages into 1-inch pieces and place them into the pot with the sauce, ensuring they are coated well. Sprinkle some parsley over the top and serve.
